What is the job of Remote Risk Manager?

Remote risk managers have the responsibility of assessing and managing potential threats to an organization. These risks and threats can pertain to the organizations’ finances, security, workforce, clientele, reputation, and shareholders. A lot of the work is done before anything detrimental occurs. As a result, the job is very research-intensive. Some of the tasks will involve understanding how an organization has managed a crisis in the past and whether the process can be improved upon.

Frequently Asked Questions about Remote Risk Manager jobs

The tasks associated with the risk management position can all be done remotely. The number of remote risk professionals has skyrocketed in number since COVID-19 with little to no negative effect reported on productivity. Some risk managers may face cyber security issues and limited access to specific (protected) data.

There are indeed entry-level risk management positions. Most of the vacancies require the applicant to have an undergraduate degree, ideally with a focus on risk management. However, this is not always a strict criterion. The applicant will most likely also need to prove their research and presentation skills. Projects from University attendance should be acceptable sources of this.

Many remote risk managers struggle to maintain a work-life balance. It becomes difficult to ‘switch-off’ after the workday has ended, especially when all of the working resources are within arms reach. Some other challenges include difficulty in getting access to secure data, internet speed issues, and cyber security risks.
